What is your favourite wave and why?

It sounds cliché, but I love me a good point break (for obvious reasons). Over the years, I’ve never had more fun than at spots like Rincon, Malibu, El Capitan and The Point at San Onofre. I would have to say, however, my favourite wave right now is Church in San Clemente. I love the way it speeds up on the inside; I don’t know how many times I’ve being going down the line and thought I wasn’t going to make the section, only for the thing to open up and send me speeding right along – it makes for a great rush. When the conditions are right, it truly is a perfect wave…and the walk helps tone down the crowd factor a bit.

What other hobbies or activities do you enjoy?

Over the past couple of years, I’ve picked up jewellery- making, which is a really fun creative outlet along with drawing and painting. I also appreciate the practice of yoga (it really does keep me sane), and on the weekends I enjoy riding bikes or reading a good book. I’m also addicted to crossword puzzles.

Who and what infuluences your life?

I love seeing my peers being outgoing and creative. Witnessing young people express themselves in different media is truly inspiring to me and motivates me to do what I love and enjoy all the more. Whether it’s in art, surfing, travelling, humanitarian projects…we should all be the motivators and supporters of each others’ happy endeavours.

What song best describes you?

I don’t know if it ‘best describes’ me, but “Today” by Dr. Dog is definitely one of my favourite songs of all time. If I were to write music (assuming I had musical talent), this song is exactly what I would want it to sound like. It’s a real “upper”, in the best way possible.

If you had a chance to do anything with your life, what would it be?

I don’t think there’s necessarily one thing that I would like to do with my life, persay. I do know, however, that I want to continuously strive to improve myself as a person – in whatever sense that may be. I believe that we as people can always better ourselves, and by doing so, we not only make our own lives more enjoyable, but the lives of those around us as well. So, if I were to name one thing that I would do with my life, had I the chance, it would be just that – life. I want to do life, and I want to do it well.

 

 

 

How do you want to be remembered?

I think in psychology, it’s said that a person is remembered better by the way they make you feel when you are around them, than by their actual actions. If that’s the case, then I would like to be remembered as someone who always made others feel better when they are around me. I’ve been fortunate enough to have spent time in the presence of others who have that exact gift, and I would love to pass it along.

What is it you like about this company (Nineplus)?

I first fell in love with Nineplus because of their wetsuit style – sleek, classic and timeless. Over the years, I’ve enjoyed watching the company continue to grow and express its unique vision of what surfing is and how it should be (sleek, classic, timeless…). I also appreciate their endless dedication to preserving the aesthetic and quality of product that harkens back to a simpler time in surfing’s past.
